DA Travel Edition: Three Dreamy Ski Resorts This Winter
With snow already on the ground and ski resorts opening daily, we figured that it was a must to tell you where you need to jet off too this winter for some epic skiing. We know the list of amazing places can feel overwhelming so we capped it out at 3 resorts in the U.S. that are easy long weekend spots! Not to be biased but the Christmas season brings us much joy, and being able to send our clients to these winter wonderlands all season long is one of our favorite projects to tackle.
Enough with the sappy talk, let’s get to business. The first winter destination for Apres skiing is Big Sky Resort, in Montana. Now it may be the Yellowstone hype but we are marking this as our go-to this winter. The resort usually gets an average of 400 inches of snow each season. The skiable acreage covers more than 5,850 acres and there are over 300 trails on the property. This resort doesn’t just offer for the snow-bunnies but it also has a zip line for the adventurous and snowshoeing tours for those that are looking for more of a calming excursion; and if the park is too much you could always take a tour of Yellowstone National Park.
Number two is coming in hot, or should we say cold since it is winter! Aspen, Colorado is our next destination this snow season. We know this is a fan favorite, most VIP across the U.S. are usually going to Aspen at least once a season. This mountain offers something for everyone from beginner to advanced. The longest run is 5.3 miles and there are 362 trails to choose from. But if the slopes aren’t calling your name just remember that you could always adventure to our favorite part of Aspen, the high-end après ski bars that are located on every corner surrounded by cozy fires and immaculate vibes.
Moving on from our favorite snowy rest stops to our number three spot this winter. For us California girls we have a few mountains to choose from, Big Bear, Mammoth, or our personal favorite Lake Tahoe. What we love about heading for a quick weekend getaway in Tahoe is the fact that there are 9 ski resorts around the Lake. This means that once you’ve done one you can venture around the 22 mile lake and explore all sides of this magical winter wonderland. We suggest starting at Heavenly Mountain Ski Resort. This is the heart of stateline where California and Nevada meet, which means you can enjoy a leisurely walk with your bloody mary and head over to the gondola that will you take you to one of the highest peaks in Tahoe. You can head to one of the 97 runs on the property and the 30 lifts between the two states. Or you can stay at the bottom of the hill where your day is full of shopping lakeside and enjoying the beauty around you.
Compiling this list has us planning our trip to the mountains. Enjoying this holiday season with our friends and family and seeing what ideas we can spark up for our clients to make this holiday season the more enjoyable.
